Presentation
Heaven's Garden Presentation
These are the digital presentations I made for my studio class in Arch400. I used software like Enscape, SketchUp, Layout, and Indesign to create my model, get powerful views, adjust and organize the layout, and improve the quality of the presentation. I used a combination of tools to tell a story of a journey to heaven and all the elements that can be seen in it.
Project Modeling
This is the physical model I made for Heavens Garden. I used materials like floral foam, chip board, foamcore, and dowels of varying sizes and colors to represent the gardens contents in depth. The measurements for each size had to be accurate and the thickness of each material accounted for. This is one of the many works have done that required extensive knowledge on problem solving, Mathematics, and 3 dimensional thinking. The artistic aspect of representing each space in a symbolic element should also not be neglected.
Napkin Sketches
These are the napkin sketches I’ve made of some of the popular structures in Ethiopia. Most of my work is influenced by the nation I grew up in. It makes me feel like I’m giving an homage to my nation and also fills me with a sense of pride in my nation. The experience of this African nation is visible through a lot of my work.
Capstone Project
This is my final and most current art work. It was made for my capstone class and I wanted to use this course to clearly identify who I am as an Ethiopian and I have clearly depicted it in this image. I used photoshop to combine and and appropriately display each image to create a vibrant and emotionally appealing image.
Revit Exploration
This is a documentation and analysis of The Maruma House by Fernanda Canales. This Revit practice not only allowed me to learn the features of Revit but it allowed me to understand the building 3 dimensionally. With this assignment, Revit has revealed to be a reliable tool for 3D documentation.

Creating a Construction Guide on Rhino
Rhino has been a useful tool to manipulating and visualizing a model and this allowed me to create the construction guide of the colosseum. I challenged myself to build this structure to test my capabilities with working with this software and it has made me confident in working with this software in the future. I also built this to commemorate my trip to Italy in June of 2023.
Creating a building a classmate designed
One exercise I enjoyed as an architect is building a model my partner designed. We were tasked with creating a model on a site of our choosing and creating a building that fits that. Each of us designed a building(Architect), passed it on to a teammate to create a construction guide(Engineer), and pass it on to the other teammate to construct the model(Contractor). A big lesson I took from this exercise is the value of communication and collaboration. We had to consistently interact to make our vision possible.
The Final Site
The building at the bottom is designed by me. It was heavily influenced by San Biaggio in Montepulciano. I wanted to display my admiration for Italy and the wonderful experience it has given me during my study abroad there. I also made the construction guide for building on the left. Finally, I built the top building using the construction guide my partner passed on to me.
