My Creative Process
The creative process for this project was difficult initially. Research for the specific theme I was looking for was hard to find. I was surrounded by methods, lifestyles, and experiences that were different from the core topic I was looking for. My project was heading into a direction where it’s going to come from a perspective far different from the one that gives someone any emotional connection. My research method needed the appropriate experience. I decided to apply the diversifying experience I learned in CPSA250 and that helped get me a lot of materials for my capstone project. Spending time with my family and learning more about their time in this nation not only brought me closer to Ethiopia, but it has vastly increased my emotional connection with the nation and its contents.
The next problem I had was finding out what to do with this material. I had so many pictures and information and no way to perfectly convey it. In CPSA250, we learned to constrain our creative material to think creatively and I noticed that this was also the method in which my architecture course used. This method helped me create my mosaic collage and curate which materials to use.
The last impactful method I Learned in CPSA250 is the iteration style. This is how I basically improved my collages. When I didn’t like how an iteration looked, I’d tweak it and make appropriate changes. This is also a technique I learned in architecture. It was way better than trying to complete one thing and moving on to another. Working through many iterations of one finished project allowed for a more improved and satisfactory finish of my capstone project.
