Biography
Eskinder Belayneh is a Sophomore from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia studying Architecture at the University of Maryland and minoring in math. His interests include soccer, math and arts like film and music. As a person who originated from Ethiopia, His cultural influences are being shown through his interests. He perceives math as a universal language that everyone in the world understands. This form of language had fascinated him since he was a child. He finds Film and music to also have their unique path of communication and persuasion. Their special role of delivering a deep and obscure message is desirable to him. He has been molded by these concepts and now they construct his Identity.
He plans to make use of these traits to contribute to society and make an impact on the world. Graduating from the school of architecture in bachelors of science will fulfill his goal as he hopes to shape the world with pencils and papers but most importantly his creative mind.
As a College Park Arts scholar, Eskinder wants to explore his creative and interactive side of himself. He wants to grow and be influenced by his community while also reciprocating his influences on the community. He wishes to attend lots of arts events and creative workshops. Specifically he will be looking at events like plays, music festivals, and art presentations as well as participating in lots of field trips. He too wants to construct a model that signifies his love for Ethiopia in his capstone project. This will be important in his success of graduating from University of Maryland as a well developed architect and a divergent thinker.
