The Ethiopian Identity

My project explores the need for an immigrant to reconnect with his suppressed Identity. As an Ethiopian born migrant, I have left a huge part of my nature behind and hindered myself from that connection. In this project, I will display my passion, care and pride for the country I left behind by making a memorialising artifact which holds great information about the Identity of Ethiopia. This artifact will have four thematic sides and they will cover Ethiopian culture, history, religion, and architecture/tourism. It is my intention to use the cross-prism like artifact to inform the art scholars, Africans, non-Africans, and the people who lack pride in their identity about one of the many ways one could be proud of their heritage. Displaying the  greatness of Africa is also one of my themes. With this project, I hope to light a fire of curiosity for the viewers in learning more about African culture.
